Default UK bans proposed

Fasten your seatbelts, it looks like UK bans might be in the pipeline:

Quote:
... Another point which the document addresses is the challenge in the enforcement of Smokefree legislation in public places:

“The inability to easily distinguish between a normal and an e-cigarette leads to confusion and upset amongst the public which can give rise to complaints as they believe that breaches of the legislation are taking place, and they are being subjected to cigarette smoke whilst in a no-smoking area. The use of e-cigarettes in premises where the law prohibits smoking could well encourage people to smoke, either in the mistaken belief that the law does not apply or is not being enforced, or that the individuals concerned will not be noticed and reported. There is also real potential for public order offences being committed where individuals are approached and asked or told to stop and this is challenged.”

After this the organisations go on to comment that they believe that electronic cigarettes should be classified as tobacco products and subject to the relevant legislation...

If anyone wants to organise and discuss what we can do as activists we can get together here:

I foresee a real market developing for mods that don't look like tubular cigs, and for stealth juices that give nic, flavor, throat hit, but little or no vapor...

there may be a few exceptions, but i think the vast majority of people who own and run establishments in the UK...they dont give a shit Vicks.

the smoking ban here has been a total success for the antis...it seems that everyone who smokes has complied...like good second rate citizens should.

anytime in the past that ive tried to vape openly in a pub, even with a Janty stick which as you know looks nothing like a fag,i was told to put it away or get out.they arent interested in listening to arguments or pleas.

theyre afraid of people seeing someone with a ecig,or just blowing vapor, and thinking "well if he's smoking, why shouldnt i?",and lighting up...leading to them getting a hefty fine and a load of hassle.

one of the pitfalls of these things not reaching general public awareness yet i suppose.

Thanks Spike. I haven't even had a chance to research and verify the story yet but am on it and hopefully we can get something together soon.

This all sounds like the NJ restrictions and I hope the passing of that legislation doesn't encourage our bureaucrats to abuse their authority too.

Oh puh-LEEZE! I can't take much more of this! Let's not take a chance that someone is doing something that nobody will notice and that ... somebody won't notice they're doing it, so they can't be reported?!?

HUH?!?

Are they kidding?!?

It is rapidly approaching, folks. They time is drawing close. We should place a "ban" on governments that appear to be protecting the public interests when in fact they are only serving their own, financial or self-power.
That having been said, one true problem in the UK is that unlike the States, if they pass such a ban, they will not pay any attention in the courts to the minutia of the law and will apply the perceived meaning of the law without regard for further consequences. For instance, when living over there, I was subject to the British laws such as "The Official Secrets Act" which meant if I said anything that they deemed to be a secret, whether it was classified information or not, I could be charged and convicted and never know what I had said that was the "Official Secret". Huh???
Let me stop now before this becomes a rant.

Did you know that in London there's a CCTV camera per approximately nine people. I think the UK might be the most watched nation in the World.

And there's not much militancy here, thanks to our comfortable lifestyles and decadent legacy from the Empire days. We stand in line and keep stiff upper lips without complaining ... to the right people ... we complain and bitch lots to people who can't do anything to sort our problems.

... and then there's the rain
